VIDEO PRODUCTION

Taking video from its early concept stages on through to the final product is my strongest suit. How do we tell stories that exemplify the brand, while at the same time tapping into the culture? Below are examples of films that I’ve produced with an awesome array of filmmaking talent.

MEET THE RANGE - GRAVEL GEARING

The goal here was to create something within the boundaries of the Meet The Range series but to aim this segment at Gravel Gearing. Creative partnerships like the one with Jen Whalen (see also the Legion race below) is one of the keys to pulling this off. This one was a change in that it was strictly studio-based whereas everything else has been in the field.

Steps to the top - world cup cyclocross

w/ Vermont Social
Following three of the world premiere cyclocross racers - Lucinda Brand, Maghalie Rochette, and Clara Honsinger - was an amazing assignment. The challenge became how to actually distill all the great footage that we got into one short piece.

SRamtv - L39ion - into the lion’s den

w/ Vermont Social
One part race recap, one part video explainer, and one amazing host to tie it all together. A longer film than what was originally planned, the racing action made for the perfect backdrop to tell the tale of L39ION and how this historic race came together.

Frankenbike

w/ Lucky Day
Every year the Chris King Open House takes place. It’s one part showcase for new CK products and also another way for the partners that they work with to show off their stuff. The goal with this one was to make it very different looking than all the other bike films out there and we did that by creating a set for the first, black and white portion of the film.

ERIC Koston x Justin williams

w/ Farm League & Emily Maye
We had the cameras and two excited sneaker dudes. What were we supposed to do? Justin sits down to talk in great length to skate legend Eric Koston.

Legion x s-works ares

w/ Farm League & Emily Maye
The official launch video for a new addition to the S-Works footwear lineup. The goal was to show off the three main benefits of this shoe, making it the perfect all rounder.

MEET THE CRUX

w/ Vermont Social
The launch of one of the hottest gravel bikes to come out in years. Working with Vermont Social we created a fun, vibes-filled romp through Colorado to show off all that the capabilities of the new Specialized Crux.

The Athletic Fun Camp

w/ Central Office
We liked to call this weekend “adult sleep-away camp” which it kind of was. The function of the video was to showcase the amazing riding in the area and also serve as a launch video for the weekend.

JET FUEL FILMS: DANIEL OSS

w/ Daniel Oss
The “Jet Fuel Films” was a concept that we came up with to add energy to the Aethos lineup of bikes. There were six different films that were conceived around the world to showcase this bike in different ways.

Rapha Gentlemen’s Race LA

w/ Farm League
Farm League brought on a real life stunt driver for this shoot. We shot the route a couple days before for some b-roll and ended up riding a good portion of the route. The course was awesome and so were the beers after.

We chose Farm League for their work with outdoor & action sports. Plus, being in LA they had a leg up on locations.

Rapha Continental: 2013 PNW

w/ Droptree Productions
This one was fun because everyone came out to the Pacific Northwest to ride. We had a big house that looked out over the gorge. There was a big barn and we shot all over the place. The owners totally banned us from renting again. Oops.

Droptree worked with us on a number of the Rapha Continental films over the years. They got it from day one.

Rapha Roller Race, Portland

This was the first ever Rapha film. I edited the short piece from footage that was shoot during the event. It was my first ever work for the brand and apparently it went over well.

The Hidden Alps

w/ Ben Ingham
This was a fun one, not only because I got to ride in France and Italy with my good friend, but also because when the product shoot was over, we jetted out to the Giro to shoot the B-roll footage that you see on the right side of the frame.
